Wandering from Juneau to XIP and Around Alaska

Before Captnmike was Captnmike I wandered about in Alaska as a Cannery Hack Here I am on my way into XIP to help them start their cannery.

Yes there is a runway down there, this is a wide and long runway.

Getting closer - this was extra tough with a cross wind - drop below the tree tops and the cross wind went away.

Terminal and baggage check at XIP.

For a while they had signs at the side of the runway – one side said “Watch for Airplanes” and the other side had “Caution Bear Crossing” or “Watch for Bears”

Loading the taxie.

Loading the taxi. Gettig ready for my big excape.

Airplanes are the primary mode to transportation to and from the canneries.  One of my coworkers thought they took full sized jets into the cannery runways.  Guess that is your world view from the “Big City”

This is along the highway from Anchorage to Seward.
